What are the best ways to manage stress? Well, we are about to get the answers to these questions. Let's take a look:

What is stress?
Stress is the body's physcial response to harmful events and situations (whether real or imagined). Feeling threatened, endanagered or overwhelmed, stress chemically causes our bodies to go into defense mode. This is also known as stress response, or "fight or flight." Stress was designed not to harm us, but when faced with danger, save our lives. How? When we feel threaten or endangered, our body's chemical reaction is that the nervous system releases tons of stress hormones including adrenaline and cortisol. These hormones prepare the body for emergency action and reaction. Stress when used correctly, helps us to push harder, sharpen our concentration and keeps us balanced. However, many people take on the negative stress response.

Editor's Note

When it comes to how I deal with stressors in life, I personally have found that many of my stressors are directly related to my spiritual walk. If you're like me, I am a very independent, self-starter type of person. I have a mind full of creative ideas, plans and dreams and create expectations for myself. Sometimes when I don't meet those expectations I'VE CREATED, I tend to come down pretty hard on myself. That's why you will see that I talk a lot about destiny, purpose, predestined circumstances because I've come to realize, no matter how much I think I am in control of my life, I am not. Trusting God and all he orchestrates in my life is the only way for me personally to get through tough situations. I've come across situations in my life that don't make any sense whatsoever, but I remember that the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom (1 Chorinthians 1:25). He uses negative situations in our lives to strengthen our faith and to cause us to turn to Him in full dependency. STRESS?? God created it. With every stressor, I draw closer to him. So...saying all that to say, stress management techniques are very helpful and I use from time to time, but when I've done all of that, I find out that trusting in the Lord to deliver me from disappointing situations, toxic people, harmful places, my finances and situations I can not control has been the answer. Let go and let God. Just a thought.....:-)
