Not Being Yourself Can Kill Your Purpose!

BeYouTiful - Be YOU to the Fullest "But let every man prove his OWN work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another." Galatians 6:4 "Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ." Galatians 1:10 NIV

There are so many people in this world that struggle daily with being themselves and embracing who they really are. Internally fighting within themselves and trying to please others and struggle with finding their place in this world. I too have been there, and I have come to realize that there is no way a person will embrace being themselves unless they first know who they are. Being one who has struggled with self-esteem most of my life, I have come to the understanding that many go through this struggle internally and try to cover it up. But in fact, what we feel about ourselves on the inside will indeed manifest itself on the outside. And when I say outside, I'm not only referring to appearance but also in actions.

This is very very important to address because if we are trying to walk in our purpose and destiny for our lives, we must first acknowledge Jesus and know that we are "fearfully and wonderfully made.." Psalm 139:14 and KNOW WHO WE ARE, then EMBRACE who we are so that we can walk in our OWN destiny. God has made each of us in His own image, but he has also made each of us unique in our own way. Each one of us was placed on this earth to fulfill a purpose whether it be a purpose that glorifies Him or a purpose for enemy. Yes, I said whether it be for God or for Satan, we all have a purpose.

Now our bodies consists of many parts both internally and externally. Each body part has a unique function and without one the others may either fail, or work differently. If God has created you to change the world through music, dance, encouraging others, sports etc., yet you are decide that that is not what you want to do, you will instead find a gift or talent or purpose you feel is better and do that instead. When doing this, you will NEVER walk in the purpose the Lord has for you, thus always searching and never being satisfied with yourself. There are so many factors to this, one being to seek the Lord and find out who you are in HIM. When you find out who you are in Him, He will reveal His plan and purpose for your life bit by bit. As He begins to reveal to you, you then have the CHOICE to decide to embrace it or reject it.

Many people have made the CHOICE not to accept who they are, their purpose, gifts, looks etc., because they constantly compare themselves with others. I was here at one point in my life's journey. constantly running from God, and comparing my situations with others. It had to stop! I had to accept myself, my life and my destiny and trust the Lord in it all. Instead of keeping their eyes fixed on Jesus, His purpose and plan, instead many people look at their neighbor what they have and what they are doing and decide that that is what they want, should be doing or that is what we should have. That is a SIN!! Exodus 20:17 (a commandment) states " Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's house. Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to thy neighbor." THAT INCLUDES THEIR GIFTS, TALENTS...THEIR PURPOSE! That's why its important not to compare ourselves with others and desire to be like them,  because in that, we are showing discontent and start to covet after other people's purpose and destiny. What this does is takes you away from your purpose, leaving a vacant spot in the area in which you should be in. If you leave your spot vacant, God will replace you with someone else because the purpose has to be fulfilled whether by you or another. Then where will you be?

I can only speak this because I went through it. I have been at a place in my life where I have made plans based off of where this world says I should be, have and look like. But when I finally gave my life over to Jesus, and I mean really gave my life over to Jesus (not just in public but in private) He revealed to me that my plans were so far off from His plan and purpose for my life. "In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps." Proverbs 16:9 Giving my life to Him opened my eyes to who I really am. For I am nothing without Him and everything with Him. And so I walk in His confidence, because if the Creator of the Heavens and the earth and everything in and around it says that I am special and that I have a purpose in Him, what this world has to say about me means NOTHING. I then embrace how He has made me, and the choices He has made for me I do not fight. No, it is not always easy but that is where TRUST and FAITH comes in.

Man! It takes so much energy to try to be anyone but yourself. Constantly comparing and competing, it's a waist of time and energy. It is so discouraging to try to be something you're not because you will NEVER be anyone but YOU regardless of how hard you try to be someone else. Life is too short to always be patterning your life after another. What about fulfilling God's will and pleasing Him with your life? What about when its time to stand before Him? I know for me, I want to hear "Well done, my good and faithful servant."You are so special to God and He wants to use you in such a great way. But you must first get to know and LOVE God, let Him reveal to you your purpose then you must EMBRACE His plan so that you can fulfill the unique plan the Lord has designed for you. We never know who is watching us and who (when we walk in God's course for your life) we may INSPIRE someone else to seek the Lord and discover their purpose and destiny.

As always, Love. Embrace. Inspire.

  1. Very well written Tiffany, we are all "fearfully and wonderfully made" beautiful workmanship of God. To walk in our purpose we have to be who God created us to be. "UNIQUE" One of a kind!
