3 Easy Ways to Transition from Winter to Spring Makeup
Beauty | LOVE EMBRACE INSPIRE | By Jennifer Ford of Simply Jenners
When it comes to makeup, spring is all about the switch up. Now I know some of us dislike variation when it comes to makeup, and I can definitely understand that. What girl doesn’t love her staples? And while it’s ok for us to be contrary to change, making seasonal transitions with makeup is one change that I absolutely embrace! In fact, it’s needed. In the spring, you’ll be competing with the heat and humidity which makes achieving flawless makeup challenging. Yet, you don’t have to forfeit your flawlessness for the sake of the “S” word (S W E A T…eek), you can still have a winning makeup look by making 3 minor adjustments.
1. Switch Foundations
To avoid the disastrous “peanut butter face”, skip the heavy foundations and reach for a powder or tinted moisturizer instead. Powder foundations and tinted moisturizers provide the skin with lightweight coverage, and are less likely to drip of your face. Here are my favorites: L’OREAL True Match Super Bendable Powder ($7) and Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer ($43).
2. Switch Primers
During the winter, we may be able to get away with generic primers or no primer at all. For the spring, this isn’t the case. Apply a primer with mattifying properties. I can’t stress this point enough. Mattifying primers not only work to create a smooth canvas for applying makeup, they also work to insure long wear makeup by absorbing oil (a.k.a. sweat). Here are my favorites: Estee Lauder Matte Perfecting Primer ($34) and Smashbox Targeted Pore and Line Primer ($34).
3. Water Proof It
Running is good for us, but not this type. Runny mascara and eyeliner can ruin a makeup look completely, and because our skin is super lubricated around this time of year, all MU wearers are susceptible. Use water proof mascara and eyeliner to keep things in place. Here are my favorites: Wet and Wild H2O Proof Liquid Liner ($4) and MAC False Lashes Waterproof Mascara ($16)
