Empowerment | Laugh Without Fear of the Future

Some of you may have heard of the Proverbs 31 woman. She is what many Christian women aim to be, but it should be noted that both women and men can learn a lot from her.
1.   She works hard without complaint.
She looks for wool and flax. And works with her hands in delight. ~Proverbs 31:13
2. She cares for those who are less fortunate.
She extends her hand to the poor, and stretches out her hands to the needy."   ~Proverbs 31: 20
3. She loves and tends to her family, and they love her in return.
She looks well to the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and bless her; Her husband also, and he praises her, saying: "Many daughters have done nobly, but you excel them all." ~ Proverbs 31: 27-29
These qualities and values are all very admirable about the Proverbs 31 woman, but one of the things I admire most about her can be found in verse 25:
She is clothe with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. ~ Proverbs 31:25
In the face of uncertainty, she is able to move forward without worry. Many of us can barely crack a smile at the thought of tomorrow, let alone laugh. We should take joy in what is to come and know that God has great plans tailor-made for each and every one of us. Though easier said than done, it is possible for all of us to leave fear behind and embrace our futures.
In John 16, Jesus warns us about the world after he is crucified but he also makes some promises, one of them being the help of the Holy Spirit. Then later in verse 33, He says “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
It’s important to understood that in this world, trouble will occur at times. But in order to still laugh like the Proverbs 31 woman, we have to also fully understand that Jesus has the upper-hand. Like He Said, He has overcome the world. Throughout the Bible, we can take courage thanks verses like Psalm 27:1 and Romans 8:28. These are life changers in times of doubt and worry.
And speaking of worry, it’s crucial for us to see it as a poison. Worrying is not just something that affects our thoughts. If you have ever been seriously worried about something, you notice it takes over your entire body. It goes from thoughts such as, “How am I going to leave this job I hate?” Then to your attitude, where you’re no longer giving life your all. And finally to your body where you become lazy. No longer getting up and continuing the journey to the the future God has laid out for you.
Matthew 6:27 asks, "Can any one of you by worringa add a single hour to your life?
The answer is no. Therefore we have to eliminate that emotion. Nowhere in Proverbs 31:25 does it say that she laughs a worried laugh at the future.
Another way that we can laugh without fear is by seeing life how God sees it. It’s of course quite difficult considering our mind can only grasp such a small amount of His works. But when you think about it, God set us up to win. And even during the moments when things are not going our way, he promised us grace and peace.

I want you to imagine that it’s finals week and you’re a student at a university. Everyone around you is stressed and worried about this exam, except you. You’re sitting there, cool as a cucumber, while checking your Instagram feed before you start. Those around you are puzzled, while trying to figure out why.
Life is a test. And all the answers are given to us in God’s word. How would you feel if you were ready to take a test where you were confident in the answers? I don’t know about you, but I would grin and laugh without fear of the future, just like the Proverbs 31 woman.

Laugh, It's good for you!
