EMPOWERMENT | Hunger for Greatness Pains

January 1, 2015 | LOVE EMBRACE INSPIRE  | By Tara Hughee

Are you living the life you dreamed of? Believe in God for? Unfortunately for many of us, the answer is no. The Bible says in Jeremiah 29:11, “‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.’”
Therefore if we know that God has plans to give us more that we could ever imagine, why are we mundanely and pessimistically living? Why are we still thinking so small?
I believe that there are two things that hinder us from reaching the future that God has planned for us. We are either doing too much or too little.
TOO MUCH
We do too much when we learn of God’s plan for us and become super excited. There is nothing wrong with enthusiasm about our blessings to come, but as a result we try to orchestrate our own plan so that it happens right away. This is a huge mistake. Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through CHRIST who strengthens me.” Not I can do all things through my own strength.
We are only human and it takes a mountain moving God to make ways for you when there seems to be no way toward your purpose. It is not wise to rush God’s plan. Habakkuk 2:3, which I refer to as the dreamer’s verse, says,
For the vision is yet for the appointed time; It hastens toward the goal and it will not fail
Though it tarries, wait for it;
For it will certainly come, it will not delay."

God is all about preparation and the right timing. When you bake a cake, for example, you can’t skip over steps like mixing the batter or heating the oven to the right temperature. If everything isn't done in the right order at the right time, the cake will be a failure. Think of yourself as the cake and God as the baker. Imagine the ingredients as the skills and lessons that He gives us to prep us for the ultimate goal. Without one ingredient or lesson, everything could be thrown off.
TOO LITTLE
We do too little when we take God’s word into consideration, but don’t take it to heart. We hear it, thank God for it, and that is about it. From then on we continue to live stoically as if our creator did not speak blessings into our lives. In Matthew 7:24-27 it says:
24 "Therfore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.  25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."

Let go of the excuses and walk in your purpose. As one of my favorite Mary Mary songs say, “What are you afraid of? Don’t you know what you’re made of?” Each day that passes is a day wasted on trivial matters. You have what it takes to be who God created you to be. Remember that God does not call the qualified; He qualifies the called.
If God were to call you home at this very moment, would you smile at the thought that you fulfilled God’s purpose for your life? Or would you frown because like the slave given the one talent in Matthew 25, you did nothing with it.
It is my hope for each of you to not to do too much or too little. God has many promises for you and will not break them. Remember that he is not man that he should lie. So the next time you feel those hunger (for greatness) pains do not decide to take matters into your own hands, let Gods word go in one ear and out the other, or just sit idly while life passes you by. Do what God has asked of you and let Him handle the rest and remember Deuteronomy 7:9  which says

Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love Him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations

We were all put on this earth to accomplish greatness,

So Be Encouraged,
Tara
