Esteem | Why You Should Love Yourself the Way God Loves You

Esteem | LOVE EMBRACE INSPIRE  | By Catherine Manning

Every day we wake up to negative messages around us. Magazines portray unrealistic expectations for beauty. The media constantly criticizes celebrities for losing or gaining weight. Our own friends offer us suggestions. They say things like, “You would look so pretty if you wore makeup” or “All you need to lose are a few more pounds.” The pressure to be perfect pushes us to see any little flaw we may have. We force a distorted concept of self-worth into our life. Our Self Esteem plummets and shadows our every accomplishment. We are no longer good enough. We forget that God made each and every one of us in his own image. God made us because he loves us. He made us exactly the way he intended. We are beautiful in every way and our faith makes us even more beautiful.

So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created He them. Genesis 1: 27

We mean so much to him that he gave up his only son so that we could return to him one day. To him we are worth the ultimate sacrifice. To him, we are enough. What really matters is our character and how we treat others. We can learn to base our self-worth on the good we bring to the world. You may think it is too hard to change years of self-destructive thoughts. Maybe someone bullied you in school. Maybe you were in an abusive relationship. Maybe you are just not happy with way you look. But never forget that God knows you. You can bring those fears and doubts to God. I promise you he will listen. He will remove the chains and only bring you happiness. All God wants is to see us thrive and grow and be joyful. Do not deny yourself the right to be content with who you are. This is the time to change.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
