CAREER | How To Develop a Business Plan Through Christ
ENTREPRENEURSHIP | | by Kimberly Rice
CONGRATULATIONS!! You are ready to get started on that business that you have been dreaming about. You feel ready and bold to do the first step but when making a business plan; do not expect it to be a “set in stone” type of plan. But look at your plan as an ongoing valuation that you will frequently change and review.
Many people see a business plan as goals with each level that you reach but while you make a plan, you will start to see it as a Life Plan as well; because everything that you do through Christ is all connected to glorify Him. That is why in Matthew 6:33 say, What you should want most is God’s kingdom and doing what He wants you to do. Then He will give you all these other things you need. (ERV)
So the very first step in business when developing your plan is to know the true reason why you want to start your business. A great start would be that you would want your business to be a service to others first then making money. Financial gains will come. In Psalm 37:4 say, Enjoy serving the Lord, and he will give you whatever you ask for. (ERV) In other words, try not focusing on your needs but staying focus on God and trusting Him that He will it work out..
After you have your purpose for your business, then figure out your target audience. Who would be your clients for your services or products that you want to sell. Will it be a type of service that will benefit or enhance their lives?
Finally, visualize what type of business you want. Do you want it to be global or just have a simple business working from home? What type of money you want to make? How many employees that you want to have? How many hours that you want to work once your business is up and running? After visualizing it, write it down. By writing it down and posting it somewhere that you will walk pass every day, will keep you motivated and give you strength to keep going for your business. We are all visual beings, so seeing our goals in writing always helps.
But please believe that you really can have it exactly how you want it because God does not give us our dreams without the ability to make it possible. With today’s technology, the sky is the limit to achieve anything you want. But we have to take that first step (which is always the hardest), take a deep breath, and trust God then GO!!
But at the end of all this, there is an old saying that if you want to make God laugh then tell Him your plans. So set your business plans to be flexible with change and if it seems like you are going off course from your plan; that is only God letting you know that He has a way better plan for you. Trust Him.
